    • AGGHHHH! There is a moose loose aboot this hoose!!

Here in my office, as I type, to be exact. The little beggar is just too damn quick for me to catch! On the plus side, the half hour of vigorous exercise chasing it, coupled with moving all the furnature/filing cabinets/bookshelves into the middle of the room has burnt a load of calories; and the unintended consequence is that tomorrow I have easy access to the inch-thick dust that has accumulated behind these items. Euewwww!

It better put itself into the humane trap overnight (baited with raisins & choc) otherwise it's threatened with the cat.....

      • Now you see, I couldn't leave it alone, so I had another go.

Here he is, behind the bookcase at the far end by the socket ...

In doing so, I discovered that closing the office door to contain it in one room is a right waste of bloody time - he squeezed himself under, into the hall. I managed to herd him into the kitchen and close the door (no point in this, on reflection as there is a whistling gap underneath); see him under the kitchen table - open the back door, and when I look back under the kitchen table he's gone.

I'd have been happier to see him scamper out the door, but I can't see him in there, and I've done a cat scan of the area.

Just got to put the office back together in the morning...

        • Aw.....he's so cuuute!

Much cuter than the baby bird we had in the livingroom at dawn yesterday. Possibly because the baby sparrow was in many, many, pieces. Bleurghhhhhhhh.

One morning, when I was home alone, I could hear repeated rattley noises down the side of my armchair, next to the wall. I pulled all of the junk out, bit by bit. I shifted the armchair. Nothing. But there was the noise again. I pulled out some more very small bits and pieces. Still rattling but no sign of anything. And then a Twix wrapper (probably dropped by a child) moved. It only had the corner torn off and there, at the very bottom eating crumbs, was the tiniest wee mouse you've ever seen! The cats must have caught him but he must have escaped them once inside. I took him outside and put him in the dry stone wall, where he'd have been safest.

          • That reminds me of the time our Cat brought in a mouse, let it go in the lounge, then sat washing herself whilst we moved all the furniture and faffed about. It took us about an hour to get the ruddy thing and put it outside. The Cat had a sleep, then got up and started looking for it.

Rant: wasted extra time gained owing to lack of sleep last night and wasted day today trying to catch up said lacking sleep.
