It snowed on April 4th 1975 - I know that for a fact Went into the chapel in sunshine to get married, came out and it was snowing. Then overnight it snowed so much that we couldn't even get a taxi from the hotel to the station and I had to wade through the snow in my going away outfit How we larfed
Actually, May was always hot when I was a kid. You could rely on it for holidays and sunburn

The guys were playing a PS game today, called Oblivion. The graphics are something else.

So there is the BH, about to be obliviated by some bad guy, when I noticed the scenery. The game designer boffin chaps had really captured that pinky apricot evening light that I remember as a child, but which is seldom seen these days.

I remember those long Summer evenings, when we were allowed out until all hours (being safely on an RAF quarter patch) playing in that peachy pink light. And there were always hot air balloons and airships, being just across the road from Cardington.

It always followed a day where you could smell the sunshine on your way to school, you knew it was going to be a day of heat just by how good it smelled, how fresh, by 8am.

I long for that evening light, and those fresh, warm, summery days that just seemed to be there from May to September every year. The weather knew what it was about back then. It went out there and did it's job, it didn't fart about making lame excuses.

I'm sure it all went wrong when the Beeb changed the weather symbols......they went all computerised and nobody read the manual.

I was looking back in my diary for 2012, and after that hot March (24C), it snowed on the 3rd of April (8C). It is strange, but I can't remember that! Signs of things to come in that year.

I think we now have one season, and its cold, wet and miserable far too often!!

I do believe that I was more aware of the warmer days as a child, because I played football on the road at every opportunity. Life gets in the way far more now, so I'm far less in tune with the weather.

I think it goes back to when the cavemen were sitting around being all Phylis Sopical about the onset of the ice age,"its that global warming stuff that is the cause" said Tharl & the group thought about the statement & fell to the conclusion "cannot be that as we do not have any CFC's" so they thought some more & came to a more likely conclusion it had to be ........ Milankovitch cycles .... which was extremely astute as at that point they did not have the wheel either

It's an interesting theory Mikey, whereby periodically the eliptical orbit becomes eccentric at which point the axis changes as well, thus the poles for a period are tipped into a warmer latitude causing strange weather cycles

So we're stuck with the meteorological sh*t for many thousands of years to come, then?

Well, that's just great........I feel so much better knowing that

Shall I put the kettle on?

Well, I'm hoping that because we are having somewhat near normal weather for the time of year, I hope it leads to near normal weather for the rest of the year. We all know what a summer we had last year following the heatwave last March.
