  • PLEASE,if you are driving in snow

Before you set out, find & fit the recovery eye into your bumper, most in 4WD cars are happy to help but cannot if there is nowhere to attach a rope too

You know- that's a really good idea.

No-one wants to get out in a blizzard situation and try and find where to screw in that darned eye thingy

It's no reflection on the drivers skills- just a sensible 'survival' thought...like keeping a shovel and blanket and boots with a good tread in the car.

Going out in the snow in an urban situation without those is actually negligent in my mind.
If you are are semi rural and have to drive in snowy conditions is just reckless.

      ...for my pennies worth

Or fit winter tyres and don't get stuck in the first place.

I'm obviously clueless as I haven't a clue what a recovery eye is Is it that loop of metal that is used for towing - and if so, is it permanently in place on some cars?

Aye, that's true, but if more people fitted them then we wouldn't have such problems. What is the norm in most of Europe seems a totally alien concept over here.

The main problem is people in front of me sliding around or going nowhere and blocking the road. I'm not stuck, but I still can't go anywhere!

Welded on loop is fine VC,but most "modern" cars have a screw in eye that drivers do not know where it is stored or where it fits on the car

The find and fit bit confused me too - I've never known a car where they're not attached as a permanent fixture.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
