( directed to the small grower with limited dosh and space) ???
...yeh- now to come to think about it Val,Peter and John could do wonders with bits of sticky back plastic and bottle tops...wonder if they're up for the job??
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
I hear BBC 2 are working on a vegetable growing TV show. They've been advertising for people to take part in it. Hope it doesn't tune out like the BBC's Allotment wars!
I haven't watched it for years. There isn't really anything in it for me. I don't really "do" flowers and as many have said, it is all aimed at those who have huge, flat, stone free gardens with heated greenhouses and money to throw at everything - jealous, moi - well, yes actually but still...
I used to argue with KK about watching it instead of what he wanted but then fell asleep in the middle of it so, I don't bother any more.

Well if they're not then I know someone who'd be excellent at gardening on a budget etc

I think they are hoping for controversy , makes for good telly ......hope the people who are picked are all good guys who help each other out .......
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
Can't see a thread on the latest series of GW .....so I'm starting one .
Don't know about anyone else but I'm a tad dissappointed with it ....there's not enough how to's especially on the veg side . I like flowers but too much time seems to be spent on looking at whats already growing in other est. gardens. I would like to see a lot more practical advice on things. Monty tweeted that he had done a slot on pruning and then there would be more veg .......did I fall asleep at that point and miss it? I think it's time there was a good regular slot dedicated to veg to help and encourage newbies.....
Ok rant over .....as you were......
Perhaps they have held some back knowing that they couldn't film any this week?
For those who did watch GW last night I thought Monty Don looked weird as if he had tried to dye his hair but it had gone wrong could not get past his hair lol
And I thought Monty's Fork to Fork was really good I often watch it on youtube!
In the following link you can follow my recent progress on the plot

After the second episode of GW someone asked Monty Via twitter if he dyes his hair and his response was quite angry suggesting they were slandering him.
There is quite a bit of criticism floating about twitter when each episode comes on and i'm sure Monty is aware of it.
He had said quite openly via twitter that Gardeners World is only aimed at Beginner gardeners, and will not really change as its all very scripted.
I watched episodes 1 & 2 and cannot as yet bring myself to watch ep 3 which was on last Friday night.
30 mins is too short, the content has been repeated over the last few years, Sweet Peas, taking cuttings, Blight. Adventures in one of Monty's several huge heated greenhouses.
I think currently Gardeners World is like flogging a dead horse. It desperately needs something 'new', if figures keep dropping then the BBC will drop it, however I suspect that's what the BBC wants to do in the end.
There never seems to be much for those on a budget - yes I'd love to use barrow loads of mulch but only have what I can make
This of course was Geoff Hamilton's style. He was always showing us how to re-use and re-purpose things for the price of a few nails and a hammer.
I think it was Mr Titchmarsh who started the trend of money-no-object gardening and it's pretty much stayed that way ever since.
It's definitely time to turn the cycle, away from high-spend and instant-impact and back to the low-cost approach of ingenuity, propogation and nurture. An allotment-based vegetable gardening series might be just the thing, here's hoping.
