I do like Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh but as you say it seems to be money no object.
I liked it when Toby(?) took over when Monty was off, they seemed to show more sowing/planting.

I think I basically gave up with GW after Alan Titmarsh. Watched a few at times but nothing there to make it worthwhile.

Seemed that MD was trying to remove all the others during one or two series, but that didn't work well. They are back now but each has a few minutes only so a bit pointless. Will say that MD's voice has me reaching for the remote to swap channels

I do think it needs a qualified gardener, they have the background to be able to add additional knowledge that otherwise does not get mentioned. A situation that AT was able to handle and do well.

Not 100% keen on her but I think Alys (or whatever) is RHS qualified and maybe she would do a good job of presenting it. Another might be Bob Flowerdew, he has an individual approach.

I don't think it is all aimed at beginners. I think the fancy designing bit and all the latin names could put a few beginners off ....

Problem is not everyone is a beginner, the bigger majority is not, and knowing some of the stuff behind the names and can be both useful and interesting.

If it only considered beginners then after a series or two you don't watch it any more, you will have moved on or seen and done it already.

I've not watched it "live" for years, have it on series link and then fast forward through in about 5 mins. From what I've seen so far this year I'm not sure it's even taken that long. The Carol Klein bits are fine but aren't that relevant to me, the Joe Swift bits are cringy (trying not to rant about garden design here - can't it be a gardening programme not poncey design rubbish with plants that cost a fortune and nothing about how you maintain it all over the years) and Monty hasn't really said anything yet about from given us a tour round his new greenhouse that is bigger than some of the houses I've rented!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

              I'm with you there!

And...most of us don't have a huuuuge greenhouse- if we're lucky a blowaway- and all the probs which come with them!

              Latin names ...ahhhhh!
Have to say the programme showing different types of snowdrops was interesting- and if I'd had pen and paper to hand I'd have written down a few of those Latin names!

I guess I am the 'beginner' types some say GW is aimed for and must admit I quite enjoy it. However, it seems to me the biggest problem is they are trying to do too much in a 30 min prog. Design, veg, flowers and garden tours. I would prefer them to do one of these well(my vote would go to veg!) rather than all quite superficially.

I must say that as someone new to gardening I am shocked at the lack of decent progs. I thought gardening was very popular, and veg growing more and more so don't understand why more programmes aren't on (presume cheap to film as well).

For the record I would prefer bob flowerdew and James Wong to present,

I record it on the TiVo and fast-forward through all the flowery bits. Especially Carol Klein - I like her Grow Your Own RHS books but I can't stand her gushing over things. She was practically doing a when-Harry-met-Sally over flippin' snowdrops or something last week!
Would definitely prefer a veg show, maybe with cookery River Cottage style (this week we harvest and cook...)

Went to a very entertaining talk by Monty about a month ago. He's signed up for two more years but would appear no love lost between him and beeb.

Two years of being forced to learn it at senior school by someone who was as boring as hell did not endear it to me.......
