  • I've just read through the whole of this thread .... wow VC ... you have worked your socks off. Well done, you should be proud of yourself and justly so. Love before and after photos - it is so easy to forget what it was like before. One forgets the detail - we only remember that it was 'bad'! So any time you get a bit down-hearted and discouraged, you get out the pics and remind yourself just how far you have come.

    • Thank you Susie - hope you were sitting comfortably
When I walk down the garden now, I can see the difference and I'm so chuffed! If I hadn't committed myself in public here to clearing it, I doubt that I would have done so much. There's still a lot to do, and some of the cleared patches are growing new weeds but, I'll show the little blighters who's boss
So its thanks to everyone who has encouraged and gently nagged me - keep it up Grapes

Thanks, it's a good start, but may have to crack open the nice bottle of irish whiskey in the cupboard....

                    • Progress report!! I've cleared a patch amongst the weeds and planted potatoes there

It is a lot clearer now than when I took the photos but I thought you'd like the accidental "hands"

Looking at pic 2 if the cops see that pic they may well dig your garden for you!!!!! and not to plant spuds either.

                            • You have a lovely spot there, VC - am I right in saying that nettles growing indicates a good nitrogen rich soil?

Love the idea of an anonymous phone call to the Hedlu reporting buried bodies so that you could gethe patch dug over - or maybe to the local rag saying how you dug up a priceless artifact, you'd have the treasure hunters with their metal detectors and spades there in no time.

Oh! A bonus of the second ploy is that you would get to jump out from behind trees going 'Arrrrrr - shiver me timbers, Jim laaaaaaaaaaad'.
