On that thought, you could do some speculative digging here and there where you want the ground cleared, then report that someone has been digging in your back garden and you are very worried it might be suspicious. Might get a bit more dug...
A neighbour told me years ago that there was a stone slab somewhere here that was supposed to mark a grave (but he thought it was a horse). He couldn't remember where this slab was and it could be in any of the 5 adjacent gardens. I haven't found it yet but you never know - especially if I find bones
Great idea MH - but Rent a Pig might be better - they dig with their snouts, two jobs for the price of one - a BOGOF They might find a truffle or two as well I do like Rum truffles
Its time for an Update and today, its a big one - thanks to Chris and his superhuman strength
The photos don't do it justice as it looks worse now than it did when it was bare earth and a log! The beady eyed however, will spot that the alder to the left and the holly to its right have gone, just a few stumps remaining. This leaves the apple tree beyond to benefit from more sunlight. All the greenery in the foreground is cut branches. They'll be piled up and left while the leaves dry and drop off - then cleared away. Chris and I decided that this would be a good place for a polytunnel
So a very Big Thank You to Chris for giving up his time to help me today - I couldn't have done it without you

Thanks Lottie I couldn't have shifted those tree stumps without Chris's help. Feels a bit like cheating actually - not to have done it all myself
You'll like this - I don't often see my nextdoor neighbour in the garden but she appeared when Chris was here and the time before that was when Chilli Grower came here. Bet she's wondering how many more young men she'll see me with The kindness of Grapes - thanks Guys
