  • Manifesto :)

Just been listening to Mark Thomas on Radio 4 and he has been traveling around the country asking people to come up with ideas for the "manifesto for the people".

Some of the ideas are political like bringing the railways back into public ownership or politicians pay bedroom tax on second homes.

I liked some of the sillier ideas, (of course) like "Paint all the roads the same colour as they are in the A to Z", or "teach school children lying as a GCSE to equip them for future jobs as politicians, bankers etc!"

What ideas would people come up with for a manifesto?

No real politics please just for a bit of fun.

Guerilla gardening - take out the guerilla, let people plant edible crops or flowers for the good of everyone anywhere they like.

I saw him about a couple of years ago doing the same thing, it was brilliant. He was listing off some of the ideas that had been suggested and voted for on previous shows and one of them was surprisingly topical for things that have been happening recently. Have seen him a few times and read some of his books and he's very good.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Why would the over 60's need free seeds?
They have already saved enough to last their and probably their kids lifetime.

I'd use public transport more if it stopped outside my door - so I'd like buses that behaved like taxis - but accepted my free bus pass

In Scotland, there is on the Horizon a Community Enablement and Renewals Bill on the stocks. Growing in the community is being discussed. I'm attending the Scottish Parliament on the 26th of this month at a Communities event. My train fair and accommodation being covered which is brill. I don't do politics mind.(well except when it suits)

I soooo wish that was true - but in the real world it isn't.
Bringing up two children with no dad (he burgered off) I never had enough money to save any of it despite working

Tax sugar at least as much as tobacco, and stop dieticians from harping on about fat.
Use sugar tax to create a national holiday fund so that every household can go for a 1 week holiday in the UK once a year.

Ban airbrushing of photos in magazines.

Create a community garden with teaching facilities in or near every primary school, and outlaw the selling of school fields.

                          I love his show.

I liked the 'none of the above' voting idea, no airbrushing and loads more I can't remember now!

If it's still on iplayer the show he did for Edinburgh about his Dad and opera was amazing. Soooooo funny and so very touching too. Brilliant!

Edit - just checked and it isn't on iplayer anymore but if it comes up again or you get a chance to hear it through other means I highly recommend it!

I'd vote for giving the NHS a Non-profit status. Barring politicians from meddling with it, and put running it the hands of those who work in it - at all levels. Its not a business, and can't be run like one.
