Mr Z is currently up the wall in rage so I thought I'd just tip off the Grapes.

He got a letter from the AA saying that they will be taking money out of our account for our AA breakdown.

On a car that was scrapped 3 years ago and we haven't been with them since.

Upon calling them - apparently if you cancel your AA membership - they automatically reinstate it after 3 years and just take the money.

So if you get an envelope - and think 'it's the AA, just a circular' and chuck it out - don't! As you might find yourself out of pocket for something you never wanted in the first place.

P.s....she didn't call it 'cancelled' she called it 'suspended'.

Very very poor show AA. Sneaky and to be honest, totally dishonest behaviour.

I'm off now to scrape him off the walls as I think he has exploded with rage.

We've only just got the letter today - but I'm scanning it and emailing Martin Lewis later.

Personally, I want them to keep renewing each year, and for what it costs, when you need them, they're worth it. But it's still a ruddy cheek!

I am on the phone to them right now...apparently they have a secret terms and conditions booklet different to the one you
a - have
b - can download off the internet

And apparently we didn't cancel we suspended the membership. Well, as a customer we didn't because we scrapped the car, and as the term 'suspension' doesn't exist in our terms and conditions, how could we suspend?

Was not the AA taken over by Centrica (British gas) some years ago?

When I suggested that this was a tactic to ensure that people didn't ever cancel and were 'suspended' under a secret process in order to stiff money out of their accounts in 3 years time he went quiet and got a supervisor.

Apparently he couldn't tell me either where in the Terms and Conditions booklet it mentions 'Suspension of account'. They will be listening to the tape that they made 3 years ago of MR Z cancelling the policy.

Ha ha ha ha

I have given them a fortnight and I'm going to the FSA with my evidence.

Funny how they both stopped talking over me when I accused them of secret processes to steal money off people.
