I bought mine in L1dl I think for a few pounds. I'd been struggling to cut through barbed wire with pliers but just didn't have the strength or the knack. With the bolt cutters its like cutting up a cucumber.

I do the same thing, was looking at a gazebo in a neighbouring garden and thought the frame would make a great fruit cage Everything I look at seems to get converted in my brain to an allotment device LOL

This morning, my neighbour had put a single bed base out for collection - it was in 2 halves, each with a drawer. To me, it looked like 2 small raised beds - the upholstery would have looked a bit daft though!

You could've made pockets in the upholstery and planted them up! Now there's an idea for my raised beds!

I have an old daysack with a broken zip. One day I'm going to fill it with compost, plant it up, and hang it from a tree As for all those old handbags that I never use.................

I've managed to live without bolt-cutters for 68 years it seems a waste to buy some now for some old cable that might be useful! So I'll probably re-cycle it by putting it in the garage along with the rest of things that might be useful

What about an axe? Chopping it through? Watch your muddy feet though

On Freecycle today someone offered a child's garden swing with 2 swings on it. The frame looked just like a beanframe to me, or, with mesh over the top, a fruit cage! It looked in too good condition to mess up so I left it for a child to play with

Haven't got an axe either! Got a hatchet which is about 100 years old, but so blunt when my OH chopped his hand with it, it only bruised! One suggestion is a hacksaw, which I have got, so I might try that next.

That handbag idea might work, we have an old back door (awaiting re-cycling) propped against the wall outsidethe kitchen window, I could screw the old bags to the door and have a vertical garden to look out on. They are all the thing at the moment.

I like the thought of a door covered in handbags. Could be the start of a new fashion
By the way, I was 60 something before I realised I couldn't live without boltcutters. You're never too old for a set (or is it a pair?)
