Just another reason to shop on-line!

I hate going shopping, Joe Public is an ignorant, arrogant, selfish pillock, on the whole. No wonder foreigners don't like us.

I am pretty kind and non-confrontational. I'd just have moved my trolley cos, as others have said, it's a little thing you can do when someone else is (probably) just having a bad day.

I think Jules has a good point though in that some disabled people are bloddy rude. I'm very sensitive to both physical and mental disabilities as they colour much of my family life :/ but one of the folk who has been rudest to me was a lady in a wheelchair who grabbed me at a concert *as I walked past* and snapped 'do you know you're blocking a disabled person's view?'. Of course I apologised and kept moving but rude people are rude people, full stop.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I always reverse into parking spaces - so often when you return someone has parked next to you at an angle you would believe could only be achieved by a cartoon character, and it'll be a dirty great Chelsea tractor with the rear end sticking out so far you can't see any traffic coming for 50 metres. So much easier then, to be able to drive straight out forwards and not reverse blindly with a scant 6 inches of lateral leeway.

An insurance assessor "uncle" told (nagged) me that most minor accidents are caused by reversing out of parking places into traffic. I've reverse parked ever since

            Seahorse.

In my former employment, at one stage, I had to deal with disabled groups and individuals on a regular basis - I found the reps to be difficult to deal with until they realised you were trying to help them - after that they co-operated fully. I found the individuals were a mix just like the rest of us - some had a big chip on their shoulders, in the worst cases, a couple of tree trunks, others were grateful for everything you tried to do or did.

The best were the Disabled Athletes - when I was manning the stall next door to theirs at The SEC we played a variety of games in between busy periods and they beat me hollow - lovely people with a very positive attitude to life - they asked me to be their Marketing Manager, which having an Operating background, I had to decline, as for my sins, I just happened to be working in the Marketing Department, as they had no one else willing/able to undertake this work at that time

I always reverse into my driveway - my house and all the others are lower than street level and if you reverse out there is a blind spot hump over which you cannot see and small children on cycles would not be seen. Some of my neighbours have hedges which makes the blind spot/s much worse. I have my grandsons well warned to be careful when cycling past these particular spots but.........

And, of course, there's the flipside.

When you've had a totally sh!t day/week/month/life* and you are >this far< from tears and you're not quite thinking straight, and you really don't realise you haven't been little Miss/Mr* Manners to a totally strange person near you but they seem, thankfully, to understand and they are accommodating towards to you. And give you a tissue and a nice smile.

By the time you've taken stock and realised they are too far away in time or miles to thank. But you don't forget it in a hurry.

Been there, done that, wished the ground would open up and swallow me after. That's why I try to choose NOT to be annoyed now.

Many blessings on all those good-natured, generous people out there who are kind enough to turn the other cheek, and forgive those of us who are not having the best of days.

Ditto. The only time we used to argue (before we were married......) was when we went shopping. I point blank refused to go in the end. Cannot STAND it.

Yeah, I'd rather spend a day on the allotment getting my food, than half an hour in a supermarket

I'm starting to use M+S for basics, because the service, and the other customers, tend to be more polite & friendly than the 'lower end' supermarkets

You've clearly never been in a Carrefour!!

We have a neighbour like this. Elderly, but active and likes to think she has right of way wherever, which unfortunately is also across our land. I was also loading into a car, but just two empty boxes and she was repeatedly beeping the horn, despite seeing that there were two boxes and nothing else. 30 seconds delay for the poor dear, who makes who knows how many trips out, every flipping day. My response was just to look at her (to acknowledge that I'd seen her) and carry on. The time it took for me to bend down and pick the boxes up was negligible and she has yet to acknowledge my existence despite me living on the same driveway for almost two years, now. She glares if I put the washing outside, too. I pity her, really. Pity your lady, too. It's a generous idea to think she might be in a hurry due to other appointments, but likely to be that she wants to get home to watch Loose Women, Jeremy Vile or CSI wherever it is these days!!
