  • Looking for Beta Readers

I’m seeking a favour or two.

I’ve just about finished the second re-write of the book about our house/garden self-build and need a couple of people to read the electronic ms with a critical eye. This is not editing; I’m just looking for feedback in order to make improvements or ditch it! Briefly, also looking for plot inconsistencies, miss-use of words/typos and bits that don’t flow or are clunky.

I can only offer my undying gratitude, a mention in the Thanks if wanted and of course a bed for the night and Madiran for travellers.

I know this is a busy old time – I’m only ready this early because of the unrelenting rain this spring making the garden almost impossible to work for much of it.

Thanks all and enjoy the weeding.

    I'll do it - voluntiers!

I am a bit of a pedant though, about spelling etc.......so might not be what you want.

I'm used to marking 7 year olds writing if that's any help. Are you in any particular hurry? Sounds an interesting read.

Talk about timing! My husband has just started a proof reading course and is a pedant (a bit like your partner)
He would be happy to read your ms and it would be good practice for him. Let me know if he can help.

What a lovely lot you all are, volunteering your time (or even that of a husband!). Thanks to those who PM'd too.

I'll be in touch as it should be good to go by the end of the weekend, gardening willing! Timing wise, it is always urgent, although I'm aiming for end of early July. Still have to work on title/cover/blurb, too.

Working title is If Only the Slugs Were Edible Thoughts?

                May need counselling about slugs

Forgotten I'd put it on there. I don't really like the folks on authonomy as it seems to me very much if I back your book, you back mine. That was the very first draft, thrown together whenever there was enough sun to power the laptop, full of rubbish! Probably time to remove it...

Three chapters in such a short space of time is terribly brave. I would have thought one a day more than daunting.
