Pests in the veg patch - what is this?

Hi all, new to the site, and the web at www.vegmonkey.co.uk trying to grow veggies on a 4 year rotation in a very small space in Cheltenham Town Centre ish. Come visit us!

Pests aren't really a problem for us, a few cats stalk the area, and see the beds as giant liter trays, but i'm working on that...

But this thing? Anyone any ideas?

Lol, so, it seems the best thing to do is keep a tidy garden and the womble won't return! Peanut - you can have my womble if u can collect!
