Santorini

Hello all

Just come back (last Thursday) from a week in Santorini, just what the doctor ordered. Both the wife and I had a very relaxing time.

Anyway, spotted a few plots on our wanders and thought I'd share with you guys.

The photo with the dude in the field with his goats just tickled me. He was there every afternoon - must have wanted to get away from "her indoors".

Lord only knows what they were growing. I was told the trees were Pistachios, but I'm not convinced.

Off to Wikipedia for a bit of research.....

Also, when I went to my plot, I found my potatoes are going crazy (should I keep earthing them up?), the onion sets I planted have started to sprout, and my sugarsnap peas are poking through. In my mini greenhouses mt tomatoes (plum and cherry) are starting to look like tomato plants, courgettes needed repotting, brussel sprouts have gone mad as have the cauli's and I have a few carnations and lobelias showing through. I only have 3 carrots germinated and there are still no signs of the parsnips some 2-3 months after planting. I think I might give up the ghost on them?

Glad your grow is going well but I don't think you're going to see those parsnips. Plenty time to replant.

Glad you liked them Alice, I thought the blue chair was quite quaint. Think I'll take your advice on the parsnips, and carrots perhaps.

What seeds did you bring home? Last year in Crete I came back with packets and some lemon pips which a friend grew, and some fennel and mallow seeds I picked from the roadside, and an almond .....
My pomodoro tomato seeds have all taken, and we have peppers and spinach too.

this time of year I begin to pine for the Eastern Med..
Hope we have a good summer as we are lotment tending this year.

D'you know, I never even thought about bringing anything back in terms of seeds et al! Call myself an allotmenteererer!?

Me too Jane. My Spanish tomatoes and courgettes (seed from last year's holiday) are going great guns. Far ahead of the normal UK ones.

The Troodos Geo ! Truly lovely. I've been there. My kind of place. Your parents are very lucky. Hope you take the opportunity to visit often. And so many plants which only grow there. Oh ! I'm just thinking about it there !
