What sort of gloves do you use for gardening?

I'm after some new ones - the ones I have at the moment are sort of latex fingers and palm with a knitted fabric back.

What gloves I use depends on what I'm doing!

I struggle with most as the fingers all seem to be too long so I get frustrated and end up taking them off!

I bought some lovely gloves a few months ago though which I use more often than any others (including for digging out brambles etc). They're by Gold Leaf and I think they're the 'Soft Touch' ones... very nice despite the price!

I have much the same problem and end up taking them off particularly for the fiddly bits. The ones I found best for me are the woven ones with rubber spots on for grip, normally only a quid a pair but I can at least pick things whilst wearing them. The drawback is they get wet and muddy and so do your hands.

I also have very small hands. These are the only ones that i have found that are a good fit. They cost about £15, town and country and usually last a year.

I wear the rubbery ones ? nitrile with a knitted back and for thorny work, put a pair of cheapo rigger's gloves on top. Forget manual dexterity - more like Sooty and Sweep

I bought a good solid rubbery pair for thorny work but find that the thorns get stuck in the rubber and I still get scratched! I have a material pair for gardening but still find them clumsy and end up taking them off.

I use the latex coated woven ones as well for prickly work but rarely remember to keep them on otherwise, they seem to do a good enough job. I also have a jersey pair for the winter when it's freezing but they're not waterproof so only good for digging.

I seem to have the opposite problem to the earlier comments. My fingers are quite long and women's gloves are always too short with the finger gussets finishing at the knuckle; but if I wear men's gloves (my husbands) they are too bulky and loose. in fact I very rarely wear gloves because I can't get a good fit. This might be the reason my sister keeps buying me hand cream for birthdays etc

I use Gold Leaf ones, which I've had for a while now. Comfy and with good protection against thorns.

I use builder's gloves, thick, tan leather thingies pretty much like Scarlet's. I have to buy the smallest size that I can get but they protect me against all sorts. If I am doing small stuff, I usually end up taking them off though.
Bobble asked a similar question once - oi'll see if I can find it.

I take the fingers out of mine. The fabric one that is, and so I've got some leather ones. Seemed to do well so far

My favourites are material backed with quite thin leather palms, only like with all gloves my nails go through the ends very quickly and the thin leather is good for grip and protection to start with but isn't too hard wearing.

I also have the rubbery ones and don't much like them- I get caught up on things and end up breaking bits of plants off.

I use the tough builders gloves if I need them, but for anything at all delicate that needs a sense of touch I just use bare hands. I could never get on with those thin ones or the rubbery ones either.
