I've taped it to watch. I've had several cats in my time, most of whom caught small mammals (mostly mice from around the stables) or less often, birds, but the laziest hunter I had was a male Burmese cross, who never caught anything as far as I know, except he would climb up into the stable rafters and take the pigeon squabs out of the nest (and eat them). That was about the most effort he was prepared to put into his life. Mostly he could be found next to the Aga, or anywhere else suitably warm - asleep.
