I'm looking into doing the RHS qualifications, but trying to fit them round a full time job. I'm not sure if you need to do the level 1 award before doing level 2. I have a reasonable experience of gardening at home and on allotments but plant identification etc is probably a weakness of mine.
I'd like to do level 1 but it's practical and therefore can't be done via distance learning, and there aren't any evening class options I can find. Everywhere is one day per week during a weekday.
So I'm looking at doing the theory part of level 2 over home study without having done level 1 first, was wondering if anyone else has done the same thing. I know I'd need to do the practical level 2 courses as well to get the diploma but I think the theory will be a good course to do. I'm mainly looking to fill in gaps in my knowledge, but also it would be nice to have something to mention if I do decide to make the career change from office worker to something in horticulture\agriculture (unlikely in the near future!).
EDIT: Sounds like just the 2 theory based elements of level 2 do lead to a certificate -
"Learners who successfully complete all the necessary units for the two level 2 theory based qualifications below will gain the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture"
