Took the grandchildren to school, sorted out the greenhouse, made lunch for daughter and two more grandchildren. Went to the lottie, managed an hour before going to pick the grandchildren up from school. Cooked their meal, made sure they were clean and changed ready for their school disco. Dad delivered them to disco and brought them back to me.
Got them all ready for bed, and now they are finally tucked up. Did a mountain of washing up, now need to put the washing machine on to wash their filthy school clothes.
Thank goodness Mum is home this weekend - how on earth did I manage with four children of my own?

Daughter's boss is cruising. She's a pita - I've heard people who've worked for her before talk about how they had no idea when they were working or could get time off etc. She is not training them to do anything, just tells them to do something without instruction, abuses them for doing it wrong or taking too long, all day long. She's said to daughter she smiles too much, then berated her for not smiling enough. She's learning to do the rooms at the motel, work in the office, take bookings, do invoices, put the receipts and invoices together for boss's hubby who is an accountant, and today she will be doing her first evening waitressing with a room of 200 eating. The boss has 3 kids 15 and 16 doing all this. They are doing the seating plans, prepping for the meal, serving, clearing and washing up, and manning the reception. One has been there 3 weeks. One has been there a week and a half and daughter has been there 3 days, today the 4th. She tells them they have to read her mind, to know what she wants them to do..........
Yesterday I went in to pick up daughter and the boss lady says it's hardly worth training her when she's only there so little (4 days this week, 3 next week - daughter dropped all plans for the holidays except my birthday and revising for school which has to be done) and boss was aware that I'll only let her work two days during the school terms. But now she's trying to push me to let her work more. She's 15 yo, she needs a casual job for afterschool/weekends to make a bit of money, she is a casual. And since you're paying cashi in hand (so we hear) then you won't be paying super or doing the tax work for workers. You're not apprenticing someone to learn a trade, you are taking on untrained casual kids, and not training them.
I suspect daughter will be looking for another job next week, as I'm not going to buckle under the pressure. Why does this woman need 3 new juniors to run the place and one senior housekeeper in the first real week of the snow season? Because she is so awful to work for the last lot obviously left en masse. Only good thing is, any other boss is going to seem like a pussycat!Ali

A month after she was given the job they decided she had to have a uniform and you guessed it she had to buy the trousers and black shoes! Now bearing in mind this is a small local "supermarket" guess where they told her to go to get some cheap clothes/shoes - yep T*sc0 and not even the "local" shop (30 miles away) but on line! Water. Water, water, water. I have none left. And it's taking an average of 2 hours to fill containers, haul them to the plot in stages, empty them into the butt, then water the tunnel and greenhouse. I'm having to do this at least every other day, meaning that I have no time left for other jobs like weeding.
I wish it would rain for longer than 10 minutes.

Daughter goes on holiday 3.30pm yesterday - treasured pet rat dies 9.30pm - she would have wanted to be here. Five days of avoiding telling her ahead.

I'm going to upset a lot of people now, but it really is far too ruddy warm.
I have been really looking forward to going out to a function this weekend, but it was held outside, in the full sun, and I just cannot cope with the heat. Instead, I am indoors, with the doors and windows open, and the curtains closed, doing housework, and sorting wardrobes and drawers full of clothes, and washing things that have been stored for too long and smell musty. At least it'll all dry quickly.
In between that, I'm catching up on Hubby's paperwork. Fun.
I love a warm sunny day like the next person, but I just can't cope with this temperatureAll the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

After six months of rain, it has taken just a week of temperatures in the thirties to empty all four water butts. And the mole has destroyed the soaker hose.
