Not a rant - can you turn the splashes into flowers with a little tasteful embroidery? Or put colourful patches over them...

      Hadn't thought of that.

      *pause.

Hmm - I think that would be doable (without looking too stupid).

      Thank you.

Although I am still VERY CROSS!

Interestingly, my colleague today [old school] was complaining about this and I turned round and he had two warm used teabags on his eyes saying that the tanin eases itchy eyes. I eventually stopped snorking after 5 mins and said 'do they, I'll remember that'.

Anyway I steadfastly refuse to complain about the weather. Yes I have work to do before tomorrow and have to send Mr Z to our plot, and go myself to the community gardens to water; but I am not ranting. Because the toms are going bezerk and the squashes are just about starting to kick in. So this is not a rant. K?

Hazel, just get a really good quality black marker pen and colour in the bleach spots... Or be sensible and buy a black dye that goes in the washing machine. Much easier than embroidering or tie-dyeing

            Oops, chatting

Um, rant... Essay writing. Again. I hates it. Can't wait to be finished. In 3 years...

              People who say, "Oh it's faaaaar tooooo hot to be working out in the garden today!" closely followed by;
"Whist I hide in the cool, indoors, can you go and edge that Rose bed, and just wriggle down underneath the roses and dig out the elder and those brambles!"

Actually, NO! I have a thin cotton shirt on, and the roses are grown like a big thicket, in the full sun, three feet wide and four feet high, with dangly branches that hang to the ground! I'll pull them out and cut off what I can. I will then do the edging, but, as you said at the start IT'S TOO RUDDY HOT FFS! I wouldn't have minded a job in the shade, after all, it was nearly 27 degrees you inconsiderate BLEEP!

NONE of my proper customers would have expected me to do anything like that!

              Maybe it's just me...

There's less chance of me botching it, I agree!

It's a dark brown, not black so I'm not sure if I could find a permanent marker to match - a tub of dylon might do it though, I guess. Do you reckon it will cover the bleached bits?

Yeah - but I'm 46, not 16! Think it would not look funky on me, just a bit sad...

Really, really sorry to be chatting on the rant thread!!

I don't think Dylon will cover bleach marks, but have a look at their website, just in case (or gurgle it). Tie-dye is your best bet, that way, you can always sell it on the 'Bay if you decide you don't like it!

                    • Problem with coloured pens is the colour tends to split when washed.

Anyway - my rant is...HMRC writing to me telling me that I own them £1.20 on account for this tax year...but as it's a low amount I can leave it until the next statement. It cost you more than that to print and send you muppets.

                          • Today was finally the day to get some of those pin sized leeks into the ground. Bends over to pick up bucket of compost and ping, yelp, bulging disc decides it doesn't want to plant leeks after all.

Oh, well, first time since last July. Bloody inconvenient and not even any Olympics to keep me entertained.
