  • Hmmm, ok! ......But some of the swimmers that do widths are way out of my depth and are at my pool several times a week, so they aren't swimmers that feel unsure... (Sorry, it's not often I get mad !!!)

    • My mum was 4' 11", and generally scared of being in there at all. Getting to the point of swimming widths was a huge achievement for her...

      • When I used to go to the gym, the pool had a couple of lanes set aside for swimmers who wanted to do lengths and the rest of the pool was for the poddlers like me. That worked well and I never felt that I was impeding a fast swimmer as I floundered up and down.

        • The Manchester Aquatic centre could vary the depth of the floor

When I used to swim there I would go in the slow speed section.

Rant so as to not be chatting: I want my own pool so I don't have to swim past people who wear tons of perfume.

Where was that pool? I used to live in Manchester, I used the Stockport one cos it is a 50m. Only swam during the mornings though, when it was lanes only!

I'll second the rant re: the perfume. Last month after an operation my Mum had a set back after her op when the other ladies in the ward were using spray on 'smellies' such as Impulse while in bed! She suffered a serious asthma attack and had her stay extended.

The MAQ is off Oxford road by Grosvenor Street (so a minute or twos walk from where I lived back then)

I have the honour of having the first (council discount) card issued for the general public from there - but it did take me several phone calls and standing in front of the reception staff several times. Initially they denied there was one available from there, so I spoke to someone at the town hall and went back. When they denied there was a card I rang the town hall person and passed the phone over to them.
Yes of course they had the cards under the desk waiting for people to ask for them they just didn't seem to want to encourage local people to join.

              • Really, really busy day ahead of me today.

At silly o'clock the cat jumped onto our bed and I gave her a quick stroke and went back to sleep. An hour or so later I woke up with a really sore itchy eye.
I'd only gone and managed to get a cat hair in my eye and was reacting badly to it...itching like crazy, swelling, running- then the ol' nozzle started running.
                * sigh...so I managed to remove the hair, rinsed my eye and grabbed an antihistamine and soon fell back asleep with the irritation subsiding....phew...

                only...

I'd gone and taken a normal antihistamine- not the non-drowsy one...and I can hardly stay awake.

So much for getting stuck into chores at 90mph!

                      • FaceSlap appears to be having a 'hissy' Trying to 'Bump' an advert for Hubby, and it won't let me post anything. Tried to get in via a different browser, and it tells me my password is wrong.

                        Getting cross now...

Rant: Expensive (£9.99) magazine, ordered ten weeks ago and still not arrived. Have got totally fed up with parent company who have offered (yet again) to send out a replacement - this will be the fourth replacement, so forgive me for (cynically) thinking that they haven't actually sent anything, ever. The bookazine was for Autumn, by the time it gets here , if ever, it'll be out of date. Please just issue the refund requested many weeks ago.
