I was going to stick this on the What Makes You Happy, but it's a bit bigger than that.
Remember the missing presumed burned/recycled holiday spending money?
Yesterday, one replacement cheque came from one of the companies. I popped into town PDQ and banked it before it even got another set of fingerprints on it. The bank says it will be cleared by next Friday - yay!
Also, whilst in town I bumped into my FinL. When you talk to him, he's either the life & soul of the party or grumpier than Clement Freud's bassett. Yesterday he was in a good mood. He asked how the holiday plans were going, and I ended up telling him about the lost funds. He laughed like a hyena, tears running down his face and me getting cross. But no, what he found funny is that my MinL has done this severial times - like mother, like son says he.
The upshot is that he will replace our euros - I should explain that I have (reluctantly) worked long hours on the ebay listings for my MinL's shop and the euros were my wages - because he can claim on his household insurance quite legally and he has the receipt for them too. They always have this sort of cover on their insurance as my MinL is renowned for losing handbags etc with the entire takings for the shop in them....
So, I'm popping in to see him on Monday to collect a second lot of euros, and he'll sort it out with his insurers.
Good news, or what?
