Competition....101 ways to recycle a plastic bottle ????

No prizes...but I thought it might be fun to try and come up with 101 uses of a used plastic bottle.



Principally it's an idea to help people become aware of waste and recycling...and see how creative we can be!

I know peeps will be buying loads in the shops during this hot spell- so lets see if we can invent/recommend/copy from the internet as many different uses as possible!

...and not just in the garden either...we may have some fun summer projects on our hands folks.

I'll kick it off with my infamous Prop-Bottle.

Plant feeder (cut in half and turned upside down).

Greenhouse, with enough of them.

carry spare water around with you,
vase for that odd flower,
cut of top,for a small bunch of flowers
plant pots
root cuttings in,

Certain varities of my toms and chillis seem to have more of a problem with the quite warm weather than others do....
So, I make tiny holes in these plastic bottles, fill with water and leave them lying on top of the pots, flower buckets etc .
I call it my cheap and cheerful soaker system

They're fab!

I've used the bigguns as cloches for Beans and Peas - doubled up for when they've grown too tall for just one.

I keep the top of one as a funnel to fill the dogs' travel bowl, from outside the dog-guard.

I have an old yellow bleach bottle (lovely and thick) with the bottom cut off at an angle, as a scoop for my chooks' corn.

We keep a plastic milk bottle in the kitchen, for filling the water jug and the dogs' bowl, as it's easier to fit under the tap than either of those items.
