      • Evening All. Had roast pork, new pots, my own cabbage and carrots, Yorkshire Pud and home made gravy. Eaten too much, but save my daughter bringing me a plate of veggie pasta, it's the first meal we've had since a week last Thursday! Thanks Bren, but it's been cloudy most of the day and now the sun decides to come out.

        • Evening All.....greyish blueish oddish sort of day here.

Quiet in the shop. Glad we're nearly done; jobs are mounting up at home and I am missing being here.

Sold some velcro to a chap to sew onto his moth trap - he's going to study moths high in the mountains of Oman. How can you fail to be impressed by that? I envy him the travel, if not the purpose - although I do quite like moths.

Tub time - I ache. Didn't stop yesterday; Great-Niece was 5 so over there to a BBQ, then home to clean all of the windows inside & out. Then sorting out stuff for Ma before she went home today. The GN (whom I don't see very often) sat down next to me and asked 'Why do you look like my Nannie?' I thought that was an amazing observation for a five year old, especially as my sister (her Nannie) and I don't think we look very similar!

Funny that - my big sister Helen would agree with me that we look nothing like each other, but if we are out together, everyone else clocks the resemblance.

Can I offer you a glass of, before I disappear up to the attic room to sew?

The builder has just left - honest. He must be exhausted!! He's put up some trellis fence, made a handrail down the steps, built a gate, painted it all with preservative, attached angle iron (or similar) down all 4 corners of a rickety brick gatepost that is in an awkward position to rebuild, and painted it all.
My job has been to rummage through the shed and track down the odds and ends he needed - wood for handrails, wood screws, a sliding bolt and catch, drill bits, angle iron, paint and some of the tools. The only new bits were 2 trellis panels, 2 fence posts and 3 metposts. A bit more clutter put to good use - I'm happy
Found a pop rivetter thingy in the shed - I want to play with it - just need to find some rivets Any ideas for suitable uses?

                • VC - you Welsh guys don't half get away with murder - just before the allotment show my daughter's neighbour Taff advised me he would not be available for Saturday's registration and would not arrive at the show on Sunday until after the judging was completed but would I put his carrots and beans in the fridge on Friday night and set them up on Sunday which I duly did. He subsequently asked my daughter to put his peppers in as well and another plot holder to put in his courgettes, so I added these to his registered entries.

So in he strolls about an hour after the judging and asks how he got on and when I tell him he has only managed to get 3x1sts and 1x2nd he says 'can't trust you Scots to get anything right'

No - only kidding -he was over the moon - never seen anyone so delighted with anything like that since my grandsons were born

                  • What I admire is the way he persuaded 3 of you to put his entries in. That shows real charisma

                      • VC - Good lad Taff - great sense of humour - even his car registration ends in TAF - watered my sweet corn or should I say my daughter's sweet corn when we were on holiday - we spend more time chatting and joking than we do working and occasionally give each other a hand when 4 hands are better than 2

Think I mentioned before she has great neighbours and they fully appreciate her turning a weed strewn mess into a well kept and productive plot in in few short months.
