  • Hey Flo,I understand "close & "heavy" must be a "generation" thing thanks for the kind offer of mint but I think I might be overwhelmed already I jest you not if that is her idea of a small bit of root "to get you started" I dread to think what a full size plant looks like.
If I had known before leaving home the other day how close Chesterfield was to Sheffield I would have been in the pub down the road for a pint I gotta get there & get a pic for a seasonal avatar

    • Evening all... Well I got some of my potatoes dug and had a good crop from the British Queens and then dug up some of the Desiree strays from last year... Blooming huge they were... Pity they weren't that big last year
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

                  • Morning All.....sunny out. Don't think it'll last - very cloudy over to Wales.

Must finish my stag cushion today and possibly start on the squirrel or the hare. We saw a hare the other night, coming back from The Spot, it was stopped in the road. Absolutely beautiful. I found a quilting pattern for a moon-gazing hare - it's given me ideas.

The neighbours were not impressed last night. They seem to think we should sit here locked in, to prevent their cat from getting in because 'that's what cats do' and Mrs went as far as to say that we're letting him in on purpose when we fancy a new toaster. They say cannot afford to get Genghis neutered - this'll be because they are both driving brand new cars and have been to the Maldives and Canada already this year......Anyway, they have agreed to sending the toaster to Dualit to get it serviced/sorted out. If it still stinks when we use it after that then they're going to have to fork out for a new toaster.

                    Coffee?

Coffee. Garden. Coffee. Does a good morning need anything else?

                    • Morning all. Happy Saturday - it looks like it's going to be a nice day. Thank goodness - we are having a hog roast this afternoon in the garden. We have a small awning but if it rains people are going to have to squooze into the conservatory, garage, dining room and kitchen as well ... they'll get to know one another a lot better! Off to make quitch as part of the veggie offering and scrub the kitchen to within an inch of its life. Have a good day everyone.

                      • Morning all! It's such a beautiful day that I didn't want to sleep in even after my late night. I have to do some housework (boo, hiss) then make strides on the quilt that I'm making; then to the Hill at lunchtime, where I haven't decided what to do; then my adventure of cycling to Wyevale!

Have a lovely day, all - particularly Susie & her HOG ROAST - can't tell you how good that sounds!

                        • My close friend Rosie the Springer Spaniel had to have a front leg amputated on Thursday, it's breaking my heart to see her hopping bravely around, she must be in pain but not so much as a whimper from her. My other dog Danny the Jack Russell seems more upset and keeps licking Rosie's ears.

                              • Bill, sorry to hear about Rosie Dogs are amazingly stoical and seem to adjust really quickly to the loss of a limb. Its harder for us to watch than it is for them to cope, it seems. I've noticed that other pets seem to want to help in whatever way they can too, even if its just a lick or a nuzzle.
Hope she'll soon be back on form again.
