Possibly a new take on low fat cooking if he doesn't use any other oils?

Personally I always liked Gary Rhodes - his hair was so full of gel you knew none was going to fall out into the food!

Yes,I am also put off Mike Robinson for the same reason. Also as he talks he continually wipes his hand across his mouth, ugh!
I always thought anyone working in a kitchen should have their hair covered.
None of the celebrity chefs seem to,where are the Health and Hygiene people?
It puts you off eating out.I will just copy their recipes and enjoy them at home.(a lot cheaper too-AND you know your veg are fresh)

Don't get me going on this Dobby! I took a basic food hygiene course when I helped with the Breakfast Club at school. Most of it is common sense. I really shout at the TV when they touch the food with their fingers! They put it on the dish with a spoon THEN poke it!

Did a food hygiene course with the guides - it is aparently not a requirement of a leader to have this certificate, nor are we checked on when getting the girls to cook, but boy did the 'black gel' make me aware of dirty hands!

For those not in the know - black gel is a clear gel which is uv sensitive, so you are made to rub some over your hands - then you wash your hands 'normally' and come back to be scaned in the uv box. Then you are sent to wash again..... Frightening how so much can 'hide' even when you are sure you have washed well.

I agree as well. I do watch some of the celeb chefs but shout at them for their bad hygiene - some of them dont wash after handling raw meat. And with a couple of chefs in my family that sort of thing is well drummed into me!!

I'm currently enthralled by James Martin's "Sweet Baby James" (the cook book for this is amazing)

James has one of his assistant chefs in the kitchen with him, who we call his "kitchen b!tch" as he is the most grovelly person in the world. Considering they're cooking in someone's home (or a studio that looks like it) he acts as if he is amazed by everything James does and agrees with every word.

Mind you, its worth it to look at the desserts!
