I halved it last year and it bounced back. Masses of fruit on it - but the squirrels usually beat me to them any way. The only good thing about it was the Wow factor 'cos nobody else I knew had one. Otherwise, it was a nuisance. I'm just worried it'll suddenly sprout again - a bit like Alien
CG you're so kind - giving up your time to dismantle a GH that's not for you And all I'm doing is playing with kiwis and things!! Probably see you later
The GH is now in my garage I'm told that no glass was broken either Didn't they do well!! Well done CG and the team
BTW the 12' frame was moved on a roofrack, on a car smaller than mine
His brother came up later to help shovel!! It was so hot, I don't know how they kept going!! I was exhausted just watching
Thanks for ordering the fittings. James will pay you
Its more like Challenge Anneka - or maybe TimeTeam
Sad in a way to get rid of the Kiwi as it gave me something to moan about. Even more sad to have hacked back the tangled mass that started out as a jasmine and 2 clematis (all grown from cuttings) growing up one of those metal pillars. Rust nibbled away the supports until eventually it fell down. I left it to grow into a mound, rather than a pillar and the jasmine had rooted itself in many places. I've dug up a few of these and hope that Jasmine's child will live on somewhere else in the garden. The stumps are still in situ with a few straggly stems of clematis and jasmine attached, so, who knows, they may recover and the garden will smell of jasmine again .
