Don't worry Potty, I won't have the space before long either!! Although, as we speak, I am sitting in the GH having breakfast and tapping away on the laptop. Isn't wi-fi wonderful
That little bit of me-space I planned is becoming more and more desirable Spose I'll have to put a few plants in here...........eventually

I've been thinking about putting a bed around the GH - maybe deep enough to grow carrots as I have some leftover sand for them.
Mr Mole has very kindly given up his time to help me mix soil with sand. Such a thoughtful little creature Bet he likes carrots too
PS The planks are just me playing with shapesAttached Files

Hey VC
Possibly think about incorporating colourful flowers or a section for them in the beds to attract bees etc for pollination of anything that needs it in the greenhouse....Also think about what you will grow in the beds in terms of NOT attracting too many slugs towards the greenhouse too...
Helpful, me? Probably not...Last edited by Tripmeup; 29-08-2013, 04:22 PM.I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

^^^ You're always helpful - even on your birthday
I've found enough concrete capping stones from the old wall to form an edge to a bed on the high side of the GH. They should be solid enough to deflect the mower!!
Have reduced the width of all the beds to about 2' so that I can still reach the guttering and the side panes. I can't reach the roof anyway, except with a long handled brush.
I need to do something about rainwater collection so maybe two butts at the back corners - or one fed from both sides of the GH.
As for planting, it'll be a herb bed on the high side and low growing veggies in the others. Maybe a lavender alongside the door.

VC have you thought about one of those extending brushes that attach to a hose pipe for cleaning the glass. They extend to just over 3 metres and are made for cleaning windows not expensive either.

I would say yes go for it, perhaps you could replace the lower panes with poly/safety glass or build a small fence around it? It sounds too good an opportunity to miss to me.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html
