It a water plant flower that's fantastic in a potjie (witches cauldron style 3 legged cast iron pot which you put on the coals of a fire and bubble away for hours) with veg and meat......

Never thought about it. But I'd say yes

              Scotland. Neeps and haggis.

Great idea for a thread VC.

                    For me:

India/Bangladesh - okra. Simply cannot got for an Indian meal without my bhindi bhaji.

(One of my novice curry pals thought I was well 'ard munching through a bowl of chopped up green "chillies". Didn't have the heart to tell him what they really were!!)

Tried twice to grow okra in my polytunnel - they chuck up the odd flower but I never get any fruit and all the leaves fall off! Not sure what I'm doing wrong, so will go back to the local Asian grocer instead

Australia - mangoes - mango smoothie, mango icecream with pistachio's and choc. Mangoes, just more mangoes - and a shower to wash yourself in afterwards.

Gambia - peanuts and banana in toffee, made on the side of the boat. Wish I coud make that myself, it was awesome.

France garlic. Italy pasta. USA burgers and collard greens, of which I've no idea. UK - bangers n mash! Wales leeks. Ireland potatoes - curried, roasted, boiled, just always potatoes with every meal.

India curies of course. Malaysia - anything eaten off 1/2 banana leaf for a plate, and roasted corn on the roadsides.
