  • Envy......is it really a sin.

My job involves spending a lot of time in other people's houses and even longer in they're gardens. So as you can imagine, I see quite a lot of what my customers are growing........ And if I'm really honest a lot of the time I'm quite envious to they're results.( forgive me I am a newbie )
Take today for example, my customer lived in the most densely forested area I've seen, he virtually had no constant daylight, ( between the clouds and the trees) and yet everything he was growing was to be honest, stupidly big and impressive........like I say forgive my newbiness

Try researching permaculture...or if that's too heavy, forest gardening.

I envy you visiting so many gardens
The good thing about seeing other gardens is that you can pick up ideas for your own.
I'm a fan of Permaculture/Forest Gardening too. When you have trees, you need to work with them and use them to your advantage. I lurve trees - time to give them another hug

Envy itself isn't a sin .... but if that envy turns to resentment, then the resentment is a sin ....
I envy what other people grow, both quality and quantity .... but it drives me to make more effort, try new methods, new varieties etc .... I am definitely buying giant onion seeds this year!

A couple of months ago a couple of friends and I went round the 'secret gardens' in Colchester and... well... I was suffering from so much garden envy that, if it is a sin, I know where I'm headed!

It was amazing to see so many different designs and uses of a similar space with similar aspects... really inspiring!

Unfortunately, VC in my job trees can be somewhat of a nightmare, although I do understand your lurve for them, I guess I am kind of lucky in respect to seeing lots of gardens, and I have started taking notes whenever I see something new or interesting that I could use.

Don't worry about other peoples gardens, just try and enjoy your own.
