  • any ideas?

Anyone got any ideas of what I could put here?

When I moved in it was meant to be a water feature with pebbles round it but I dunno what had happened to the feature and must of just been used as a dumping grounds for fags etc....

Ive cleared it and I put tatties in there which became wet and soggy when Id dug them up. Ive cleared all the bindweed as you can see in the pic and now Im a bit stuck at what to do with it?

We get loads and I mean loads of bindweed coming in from next door Ive got to clear it at least 5 times a year so Im wanting to put something in there that will work round me so I can get the bindweed out. Its a very shaded area atm

If it's soggy in there, what about irises? They like a bit of soggy.

Sounds as if there is no drainage there Jen, if it was a water feature then there is probably a solid tray underneath the little bit of soil.

Either dig the whole lot out, or maybe put another couple of paving slabs there with some pots of greenery on top?

Put the 2 slabs in front of it over the soil and plant in their place. That will slow the bindweed up!!

Maybe the bindweed is the reason the area was slabbed over???

Why not put 2 slabs in the gap then build raised beds on top of them?
That way you won't be bothered with the bindweed- which will drive you nuts trying to untangle the darned stuff without damaging your crops.

Like folks have said if bind weed is a problem finish of the slabs and go down the containers route.

With a little thought you will have a good looking space and get some great crops to.

Irises sound great i love them but the bf hates them... Mmmm i might put 2 of the other slabs on the patio there if the irises down work out. Im wanting something on the patio to break it up as its so massive i would of prefered more garden but you know....

Im attacked with bindweed from both ways as one neighbour does notging to their garden ( thats the one ive started workin on) and the other has just sprayed poison and killed everything yet i still find bindweed coming through and i know its not from me as i sift my borders ( can you tell im peeved haha)

anywhoo i think ill try the irises if they dont work think ill pave it.

                Thanks guys

sorry but the rant lol x

Or you could plant a honeysuckle. They are thugs and once it gets its feet down it will romp both ways along the fence. Then just let the bindweed climb through it as the pretty flower it is.
