  • Coincidence or Angelic Intervention???

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin...
My best friend - whom some of you will be aware owns a beautiful Alaskan Malamute called Breeze, has had a dreadful weekend. Breeze is epileptic and suffered a series of seizures on Sunday which resulted in her being hospitalized.
Happily, she was sent home yesterday evening, but the combined side effects of the drugs and the fact that she was literally scared stiff by the experience has meant that she is finding standing and moving about on my friends laminate floor practically impossible. We managed to get her outside for a wee using towels slung under her body, and once her feet hit the rough surface of the drive, she was able to walk unaided - albeit VERY unsteadily. This of course, meant that she was now very reluctant to come back in. My friend said she wished she had some carpet strips to put down as runners, so I got in her car and drove to town to a carpet remnant place. I was waiting for the owner to finish serving a woman and trying to work out how to explain my predicament, when another chap walked up and effectively butted in the cue (apologetically) saying to the owner, "I just wanted to know if you would have any use for some off-cuts of carpet. We've got some bits left over from our new fitting and I was going to take them to the dump...."
I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing, but immediately said, "Uummm, I think I may be able to help you out, there!"
To cut a long story short, I came home with enough sections of very nice cream carpet to provide a safe, non-slip surface all over the ground floor of my friends house!
My friend had given me her birthday money that her mum had given her and said, "Do the best you can!" It didn't cost her a penny as the man refused to take anything!
I cannot get over the timing of it all!

        Good man!
Too often we just automatically take things to the tip rather than see if there is anyone out there who could use their unwanted stuff. It doesn't take much to think about the potential of helping someone out does it?!

I'm REALLY chuffed your friend was on the receiving end of not just a thoughtful bloke- but also a kind friend helping her out in a time of distress

Nice to here things like that- thanks for sharing

Good man! Hope Breeze gets over the fright soon, poor thing.

One absolutely brilliant product we bought for my in laws dog is called paw wax. They live in a tenement building and the stairs are covered in lino so carpeting is out of the question. Their elderly dog regained his confidence on the stairs as he no longer slips when going down them because they use the wax on his paws.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
