LinkedIn - is it worth it?

Personally I don't use LinkedIn as much as others .
Depends what line of work you are in

If you are or your company have a good reputation anyway .
LinkedIn becomes academic .

my wife is self employed , works from home .
She had found LinkedIn useful for contacts to find new work

Alot of people use LinkedIn to promote themselves .
Fair enough .
Though reading through people's profiles and skills .
You would think they should running the country or the UN !

OK, thanks. That raises the question; We provide a Service, we are only County-wide - is it worth joining, to get in more customers/jobs/work or shall I just not bother?

you can set up anything you like - if it doesn't work for you, delete it - simples!

As above, it makes me laugh - people add skills that they have NO idea about (I often chortle at the skills the guys in my current place of work say they have... change management? lol!). They endorse each other for a load of rubbish. It used to be good for a professional network, now it's just full of bloat, IMO.

Well to me it isn't much trouble to set it up initially.... But it is who views it and who you then link to that will determine levels of business etc I'd say... It's not that time consuming so if it gets you even a small bit odd of extra business, it will have been worth it...

Being tagged by someone on LinkedIn is like bumping into the person you'd never employ and pretending to like them.
I hate it when people endorse you on LinkedIn and then claim it's just 'professional' when you show up at their place expecting to move in.
