  • It's raining while I'm hanging out my washing

So, I bought new towels. You know what they're like, they don't absorb, they don't dry you and they cover you in fluff - for weeks! So, i'm trying to de-fluff them before we use them. I've washed them , hung them in the wind. Washed them hung them out and we ahad a thunderstorm, left them to dry. Washed them, tumble dried them. Fluff is still coming off! I've just washed them again and went to hang them out - it's raining. My son says i'm embarrassing hanging washing in the rain, and the neighbours will think i'm a weirdo, but last week, I was lying on a sun lounger under a blanket in the dark (watching for meteors) so they probably think that any way! Any tips on the de-fluffing of towels would be appreciated!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

By the sound of it, if fluff's coming off at such a rate they'll soon be threadbare, then you'll have to buy some new ones

How about pinning them down to the carpet and vaccuuming them? (Got my tongue in cheek here )

Of course, lots of fluff is a sign of high quality. Apparently it can take 10 or more washes before the towels reach "normal" fluff levels, so you may as well use them and wear clothes that the fluff won't stick to. The vinegar rinse Zaz suggests will remove the factory finish and make them properly absorbent.

Just use them and suffer the fluff - that's a lot of water and energy used up!!

Our neighbours always hang their washing out when it is due to rain.

They're still on the line as it rained a lot last night, I can't be bothered to go and get them. Think we'll use the old ones for the rest of the week!
