zerowaste week 2013 - ZERO WASTE WEEK

"Zero Waste Week 2013 runs from 2nd - 8th September.
This year's theme is 'Use it up!' and we're on a mission to reduce food waste."

Sounds a good idea to me to encourage people to cut down on waste.



I'm assuming learning to use the freezer, composting, feeding the birds all count as ways of avoiding waste...

What is this "waste" of which you speak? A new word for me, I fear - wait - I shall goggle......

Aha!! "waste - to fail or neglect to use, to consume, spend, or employ uselessly or without adequate return"

Nope, not in this household, except when you put "consume", "cream cakes", and "without adequate return" in the same sentence, and only if you consider that another inch on the hips is not adequate return.

No waste food here either. If I don't eat it the dogs will.
My council food waste bin is used to store dog biscuits - and it would be more than my life was worth to throw those away

I don't think many of us on this forum waste food, but I know plenty of people who do. Quite a lot of it ends up on my compost heap
