Ruddy sport priority again

Sorry but I have to have a rant about sport all year knocking off gardeners world. Doesn't matter what it is, even tiddlywinks. We get one gardening programme, just one for a few months of the year and yet the small minded BBC think we all want sport instead. Well I don't. It's mind crushingly boring to me. There are zillions of auction, antique and cookery programes they could sacrifice but they have to pick on the only gardening slot. Idiots !

I watch Beechgrove as well, but even that gets kicked into touch some weeks, so I do agree with you
Marb - or they could easily move it to another time/day, so that it doesn't clash with sport as often as it does now.

We have UK & French TV and it is usually turned off.

GW was televised Friday, but it's off again next week because of athletics. They do it with Beechgrove too, so I do agree. As you all know by now, I can't stand sport because Himself watches all of it, anything and yes, he would watch tiddleywinks. Even when we are watching a drama, if it's on a commercial channel, he can flick through four or five sports channels in the adverts.

Finding I am avoiding most of the sport on BBC now. The only presenter in the athletics I find that appears fairly good is Michael Johnson.

Most of the remainder I really think have gone down the path of keeping themselves in front of the camera and not doing the role they should be. Some can be quite bitchy towards the athletes. Seen a few occasions where the presenter has criticised an athlete for how they have done something, then watch the presenter backtrack when the athlete won the event. A good athlete is not necessarily a good presenter. My view but the snooker presenters are the worst, they really are bad.

As to GW, have never really watched it since Alan Titchmarch left. It seems to be presenter now not horticulturist, and dumbing down just doesn't work. When will the BBC get the idea that actually not everyone is thick and perhaps we get bored being treated as such.

Not really missing much with bumping GW as there's rarely anything of interest in it. Trials are hardly ever followed up properly and so much of it bears no relation to normal gardeners. Such a shame and if they did move it rather than cancel (they can't exactly move a live sport event) then people would complain they'd missed it anyway.

It was bad enough having to put up with the Olympics clagg last summer. I couldn't wait for it to end quick enough. And still they try and drag it out this year too by talking about it every opportunity. I watched the opening ceremony which I enjoyed as well as the bonus of Mike Oldfield taking a well deserved world stage after years of being snubbed.
