  • Cabbage root fly

Bought a tray of 6 winter cabbage from Dobbies garden center about 2 weeks ago.
Came home took the plugs out of each cell without disturbing the roots planted them in my raised bed fitted cabbage collars around them. Went out this morning and every one has cabbage root fly so it must have been in the cabbage plants when i bought them. so from now on i will not plant without removing all the compost off and just plant the cabbage roots only then i will be sure this will not happen again.

Hard luck I swear by veggie mesh as it does for the butterflies as well.
I have sworn never to buy in any brassicas at all due to the risk of bringing in club root.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

You might be better starting a separate thread for this or perhaps the mods can sort it for you? I don't think many people will find your potato question under the heading cabbage root fly. Sorry no I haven't grown it either!
