You don't have to do it right now if you don't feel like it lad. Rest up, relax, it'll still be there when you're ready, just don't leave it too long so that you have a jungle on your hands and complaints from others. If it is time to give it up for a while, don't feel guilty. Your mojo isn't lost, it's just gone AWOL and will be back

i had a similar loss of mojo a few years back when i suffered a long illness and physically couldn't do anything - i didn't get much sympathy here

the mojo came back tho - hopefully yours will too - it just takes time - if you give up, you'll regret it later .......

It's cold, damp and getting dark early. Your reaction to a few weeds is natural because it looks a lot.

Go and do some - although not if it's raining cos that'll make you feel worse.
The weather makes the weeds grow twice as quickly, but as someone else has said think of it as compost material!

          Hi Darcy

          Welcome back, and don't despair.

Just pick a small space of about a square foot and get weeding.

Once that has been done and you see how good it looks once it has been cleared you may get the urge to carry on and do another section, and then another, and another and so on.

Alternatively you might just do the one square, but at least that is one less to do next time, just do it at your own pace.

See if you can get a good friend to join you (it may take a bribe of alcohol or food ) and have a good old chinwag whilst you work, and start to have a good time on your plot again.

          Andy

Good to hear from you again.
Mojos are fickle creatures and can fly south at this time of the year!
My chillies had terrible greenfly last year and I ended up cutting them to the ground, leaving the pots in a frost free place over winter and then bringing them out again in the spring. They've done very well.
            Stay strong

              Hey Darcy!
              We missed you!!

As everyone says, little by little...
Maybe set yourself little targets that have an end outcome and a bit of a positive vibe to them...For example, the bits you do dig over, do them specifically with the aim of planting say garlic and overwintering onions in them. That way you are not just digging a patch of a larger patch that will have to be dug, you are digging TO plant into.....

Also, if your chillies are looking poorly, clip them right back with the hope/aim of some regrowing ( I had one spindly one attacked by caterpillars that at one point had no leaves left, and is now flowering after being consigned to sitting outside for ages!!). Or select some of you favoured ones with the aim of overwintering them..

Don't set too big a task for yourself and stay POSITIVE

I feel your pain. But we all know that one morning come next april you will step outside and smell the air, you will smell new growth, wet warm soil, chirping birds and it will be spring. Then your Mojo will burts forth and be itching to go. It never fails me. I watched one of your videos for the first time today and you have a plot that many would die for (Me for one). So mark time for a while, potter around without doing too much, cover up the worst bits with cardboard or plastic and just wait for the spring itch.

                  How do Big D,

My plot looks like the courgette and pumpkin monsters have moved in. Don't despair mate, I find this time of year is always the same. The slightly damper weather and colder nights has started to kill a lot of things off except the weeds!!!

I find it helps to take some photos when you first go down there, start a tidy up and take some photos before you leave. Then pop them on the puter homescreen. It helps no end to see whats happening.

I had all good intentions this year and all went well until the summer hols and I started a new business and got a dog. Now I spend three hours walking a day, 14 hours working and the poor lottie is feeling neglected. Take solice from the fact that you and the family have benefitted greatly from the produce and it won't take anywhere near as much effort to turn the plot around if you do it now before the winter sets in.

I've got the morning clear tomorrow so that I can tidy up my strawberry beds and dig up and store my runner bean roots for next year. I find when I go to the plot I try to do two different activities, one big sweeping statement and one smaller more intricate task. That way you never come away disheartened with what you've achieved.

Crack on boyo, all I'll head down there and pop my size ten up your derrierre.......

Sorry ladies but I think he need a man to snap him out of this melancholy.

                    Welcome back darcy.

It could be worse you know... You could have been away for two years and come home to find a hawthorn tree lying prone on what was your veg patch (tree still growing). Really unsure how I tackle that one

thanks guys i have gone through my chillies still a couple of plants still going ok, chopped a few back and binned a few did this all until around 3 this morning!

my plot will be tackled little by little and sow green manures!

i lost my dad two weeks ago and arranged his funeral but as i know life goes on and need to snap out of wallowing in self pity and remember what joy my plot brought before this!

i organised everhthing for my dad and had no support from my family apart from my amazing wife and kids of course i paid for everything and now being ignored by my sister and abbusive texts from my mum i just feel so alone and the thought of digging with this mind frame is slightly off putting

                        however onward and upward :-|
In the following link you can follow my recent progress on the plot

Probably not the best time to restart if a lacking in the motivation. You could just cover it all up for now and start again in spring. I always find seeing the green shoots of seedlings and the warming weather gives me a boost.

Have a break recharge your batteries over winter and see how you feel in Spring.

Mate, digging is probably one of the best things you can go and do. The fresh air is great for clearing the head, and the closeness to the earth help rebalance your thoughts, it won't take the hurt away but it will give you a better perspective on things.

                            Take it easy big guy.

So sorry to hear why you're down, Darcy. Its always tough when you lose someone. What would your Dad want you to be doing now? Tending your plot, I reckon.
Mikey says you need Man talk and I think you need a Cwtch, we're always ready to supply either If ever you want to pop down for a chat and a cuppa. you're always welcome. Talk nicely to Mikey and he may make you some of his special Welsh cakes

+1. Could be just what you need. Let out some of that hurt and get your plot sorted both at once. Sorry for your loss man.
