I've just seen my first ever red squirrel .... just round the corner from my home .... I thought they only lived in Scotland and the Isle of Wight, but seems they're alive and well in suburban Surrey too!

I am currently in Center Parcs in Penrith and this place is full of them - I will see if I can get a pic or two over the next few days.

The nature reserve in formby is full of them
If you take some nuts you can feed them by hand .

It was reported in the press today that the Red Squirrel population is on the increase for the first time in years.

Mainly due to the culling of Greys and planned release's to repopulate the area.

After seeing a few red squirrels without having the camera ready, one decided to visit the lodge yesterday morning and stayed just long enough for me to get a pic

To add to my good fortune last night the badgers decided to come out in force in Badger's wood about 2000 and we turned on the TV just in time to catch 5 of them roaming in and out of camera shot - by the time I got the camera ready 3 were out of range but I got a shot or two of the 2 remaining ones before they too moved out of range - in all the times, (about 15), I have been at Center Parcs since grandson no.1 was born 11 years ago, this is the first time I have ever seen them caught on camera.
