Van Ins - Info please? (Not spam!)

Hi-ya.
I'm trying to source a Commercial Van Policy for Hubby's Business - Aaaaaaarrrgghhh!
Would anyone like to tell me what I can expect to be quoted, as I'm getting some rather strange figures?

Van, 15000 annual miles, business use, 1 gas bottle on board, all legal stickers etc.

So far I've been quoted from £950 to £7,800!!!

It really depends on if hubby already has another vehicle. If so then you would have to check do they do multicar insurance otherwise there will be no 'on claims bonus' available for the new vehicle. Another big factor ins the amount of voluntary excess you are prepared to stand.

I have just insured my new Vivaro Sportive total with tax £834-19p, voluntary excess £350, 3 years no claims bonus. Myself and one named driver. No extra charge for carrying bottle gas due to being Gas Safe registered.

There are companies that specialise in van insurance the largest quote will be from someone who does not want your business.

He has his NCB on his current vehicle, and can't transfer it until it sells, so am having to start again. We can transfer it when the other vehicle goes.

He isn't GS registered as he did the same course, but through a different organisation. He works on touring caravans not houses.

His old policy is for him only. The new vehicle is worth double the old one, and he wants me on the policy, so I'm having trouble persuading him that these are current accurate quotes. He still thinks he's being conned.

As a new business G4, I've just taken out van insurance based on 13k a year with goods in transit insurance included. I used a company recommended by a friend of a friend called A-Plan. I've got 9 points on my license which isn't good I know but I won't go into the details, I'd been quoted around £1500 from the big boys, but got a price back of £712 from A plan.

I can't guarantee they will be what you are after and I can't guarantee they will be everything you need, but I couldn't fault their price. I could quote John Ruskin saying you get what you pay for and all that, but I hate paying for insurance as the likelihood of me using it is slight.

Worth a try.

Yeah, I know!

He's been bombarded with calls since I did the first on-line search this morning. He told them all that the best quote was over £800 and one of them has just beaten that, so he's gone with them.

Thanks very much for your input, Fellas - very very much appreciated, especially at such short notice. He can now call the fella with the vehicle and pay for the ruddy thing!

Wrote a my other van off last year on the motorway
after someone pull off the motorway then pull back on in front
if me do 10mph.

The van insurance company was absolutely unless
Tried every thing to wriggle out from paying out on the claim
Refuse to claim from the other party
Held me a fault . my business was left in A state of flux.

Would not give me a courtesy vehicle until the vehicle was
Assessed took 8 weeks then wrote it off.
They didn't know where the vehicle was so the
Assers was unable to carry out an assessment .

Choose wisely
most contractors are paying around the£700 mark

Only found out after commercial insurance policies
are not covered by fsa ombudsman scheme.
Insurance company know this and act accordingly.
