I saw that the other day and wondered how you'd manage to harvest your potatoes before the toms, I know you could have a furtle but that would make the plant unstable. Not that I'm thinking of paying £14-99 for the plant.
what is gardening, if you cant have a good furtle?,sounds like something you wouldn't want to let your mom catch you doing, this is the type of thing that makes the English language so lovely. i am off for a good furtle now, if the wifes not watching......
For someone new to gardening I guess it makes sense - two crops in one plants - but given that one is best grown in a greenhouse and the other is better outdoors, I don't see this as anything more than a value added marketing scheme.
its aimed at those who "summer" in the south of France as up here I cant think of anyone who would be willing to pay those kinds of prices, so only money men and politicians, bankers and ...that other sort of parasite.

and me .... someone who is always skint, but always inquisitive and who always wants to learn new things
I wonder if they come already grafted ,the way our parcels come thru the post, if they would be in one piece on delivery, i love the idea, just the practicalities and price puts me off, that is more than I spent on all the veg in two years for seeds, hopefully the prices will come down in time. didn't someone else offer the same thing about 10yrs ago?
Here's S@ttons take on this with edited highlights from their email :-
"Our two bestselling vegetables are potatoes and tomatoes (ok, we know that tomatoes are a fruit really). Now did you know that tomatoes and potatoes are members of the same family and you can actually graft the two plants together and get tomatoes and potatoes from the same plant?
We've tried it for fun, but the results of such a novelty plant are never going to produce very good crops of either tomatoes or potatoes, which is why you won't find us offering them to our customers. .............
..........But for those of you who do want to grow both potatoes and tomatoes we’ve come up with an amazing offer that combines both:
For just £14.98 you can now buy 3 of our customers' favourite grafted tomato plants and 6 tubers each of our customers' favourite potatoes. Now we don’t think you’ll see a better grafted tomato/potato offer than that this year! Grafted Tomato Plants & Potato Collection - Offers - Gardening - Suttons Seeds and Plants
Of course if you really do want the novelty of tomatoes and potatoes off the same plant then you can always try grafting them yourselves and here’s how to do it! "
