Ugh! That reminds me of a certain yellow tartan skirt with bib and braces...

Back from the dentist I only needed a check-up so that was good apart from the cost.

My sister had a Bay City Rollers suit......dear, oh dear, she and her friend used to look a right sight! They thought they were cool though, as all teens do.

I'm just off for a quick rant, but then I'll put the kettle on...

Jules and any of you seamstresses out there - eldest GG is studying textiles and design as you know and is starting out making garments on a weekly basis. Any ideas as to where she can source cheap fabrics/remnants/offcuts? I've suggested the Direct Fabric Warehouse in Sheffield and Dunelm and we have quite a few Asian shops with beautiful materials (though not sure of pricing). Is the bay any good for material?

I've bought some bits from Minerva crafts(online) for patchworking and finishing some blinds off, they have some lovely materials and often have clearance bargains, brilliant service and stuff arrived really quickly. Have you got any local markets that still have material stalls nearby? Haven't bought anything off ebay but have looked, I think its a bit 'pot-luck' although there are a lot of different sellers on there. Might also be worth putting amn ad on freecycle, some people may have some larger remnants leftover?

                    Just a thought...

Flo,ref fabrics, first ask any rellies and friends,if they got any unwanted bed linnen, then go look in charity shops, see if some cheep shops like £land have any bed linnen, some places have baskets of this and that outside, our market has cheap fabrics, ask or look on the freeby web sites, some places have very cheep bed linnen, like suppermarkets,as well as asian places,

The 'Bay is excellent - it is my primary source of fabrics - if you are prepared to spend time hunting for bargains. Charity shops are also very good - one near me has a box specifically for remnants and I've bought some excellent pieces there. Also, cutting down other garments in much larger sizes can warrant you some beautiful fabrics with the plus of recycling - this is an excellent way to score fabrics such as tweeds, wool or silks. Car boots sales are also a good source of fabrics - a lot of people buy fabrics, meaning to make a garment, and never do so they sell the fabric cheaply.

A garment a week sounds like utter bliss to me - at school we were lucky to make one a term, even though I learned so much with the sainted Mrs Ainsley.

Ah hungry. Any volunteers to feed me. Serves me right for not having lunch or tea time snack; but I was in full strop mode at the time.

Eeeeeeeeeeevenin' Peeps! Dark here! Sorry to hear your woes, HH.

I had planned to ride the BIIIG 'Orse this morning, but ran out of time. Had a really weird kind of Zzzzzzz day today - tired and yawning like a very tired yawny thing But Hubby made it home in his new motor, and he even met me at work, swapped cars, took the Dogs home, and left me to play with his new motor for the rest of the day. Bless!

                                I want one now!
