  • Eeeeeeeevenin' Peeps. Had a lovely day weather-wise and other. Popped in to be sociable and got lead to LG's awful post. Same age as my Husband. Worrying. I hope She's bearing up. Awful news.

Hippy Birdie to Jules' and PP's Hubbies, too! Why's that Nutter gone to Zeebrugge? What did I miss?

    Rest of you OK?

        • We've had chilli for tea it wasn't intended but yesterday I mistook it for a frozen bolognese and defrosted it. But by that time Mr Pots had started making the fresh pasta and I know from doing this before that chilli and pasta isn't a nice combination.

                • You know how totally impractical I am Look what I've just received......

"Channel 4 is looking for an all-round handyman, designer or engineer to present a brand new prime-time series. The working title is Making It In The Wild. Each episode one host will travel to the most extreme and extraordinary places on the planet to meet the families who have rejected the mainstream and built a home in the wild. However, their presenter isn't just visiting to immerse themselves in different ways of life. Channel 4 want him or her to help improve their hosts' home with an ambitious and life improving 'build' - from a whole new set of furniture to a wind turbine that generates electricity or dam to irrigate crops.
Channel 4 are looking for a presenter who is passionate about new ways of living, has a warm charismatic character, loves meeting new people and above all has the skills to build, fix or construct almost anything a new home might need! Or is not afraid to give it a go!

If you think this could be you, please contact Rob MacAndrew at Rob.MacAndrew@renegadepictures.co.uk. Please send a couple of photos and a short email, or better still a video clip, introducing yourself and explaining why you would be the perfect person to meet families living 'off the grid' and help them improve their home."

Thought I'd post this here in case anyone here is more suitable than I am (probably all of you actually)

                    • I can imagine what the new furniture would like too Old pallets, held together without nails or screws, probably bits of old clothes line. The first bit of clothing hung in it would make the wardrobe collapse, the clothes would fall in the mud and I'd have to build a solar powered washing machine with an intake directly from the stream, greywater being filtered through some odd socks into the toilets............wait a minute, maybe I'm onto something..........

                        • LOL VC, I'd help you out. Amazing what I can do with a star picket, a bit of electric tape and a marine battery.... I'm pretty good with chicken wire and baling twine too (we really need an emoticon whose eyebrows go up and down, don't you think?)

Been raining cats and dogs here. Lovely! Wasn't quite so impressed when I had to stand in it and shovel mud back into the wombat holes, but rain we needed, and by George, we got it!

10cm of snow on the mountains last night. Same again tonight apparently.
Been quite reasonable here (4C) over night due to the rain. But the wind has picked up now and rain easing off, so could lose some leaves

Watered my seedlings. All doing well so far. And staying on the deck - till midsummer most likely!

I'm having a fire tonight. Oh and the bathroom is full of spiders apparently. I might shower outside.

                          • G'd evening Feral and Good morning to the rest of us.
Murky, misty Monday here - plenty of overnight rain keeping the temperature up.
Seems strange reading about your weather Feral - in my mind you're having blazing hot sunshine and barbies (not the dolls - even for a youngster like you).
Whatever yer all doing today - make it fun

                              • Yep, no frost here either Flo, let's hope I'm saying that tomorrow as well!

VC - it was 28 C the day we went up to Sydney, and I was suffering from the heat and advanced age for the first 3 days. On the fourth day...well the rain started in sydney. And the temp dropped fiercely as we drove south. Straight into trackydaks and winter slippers when I got home.

Fire on tonight and windows shut (after fumigating the bathroom spiders)

Need to sharpen the scissors and finish off the dogs haircut that I started before we went to Sydney. He has a Mumcut and it's no' a good look laddie!
