  • Sorry to butt in butt, but I'm baaaack from the dentist and smiling. Nothing to do and nothing to pay - and he's not 16, he's probably about 18
You still seem to be talking about chip pans, which is where you were when I left
    Coffi?

The one we have that's different to the one in the link is plenty for two people not sure if that helps.

Would you please log out when you pop off in future VC, you appeared to be sleeping I mean searching, when in reality you were down the college bending some junior dentists ear. Poor boy.

Mmm. that's what I thought I could do with a 3 person pot really. I used to have one but it blew up making deep fried sweet chilli prawns. That was about 18 years ago and haven't got around to replacing it yet.

          • have to admit to using a big cast iron pot on the cooker to do chips and the like, just wait till oil cools pour back into storage bottles and it washes up fantastically every time, I didn't want another gadget to store but the pots used for allsorts!

            • Can't be bothered to log out Mikey!! Anyway, it keeps you on your toes 'cos you think I'm here all the time, watching and waiting to pounce
He was quite a nice lad but he'd put up some jokey little posters that weren't really funny! Better than the caricature that a previous dentist had, that you could only see when you were lying back. It was of the dentist himself, with a big pneumatic drill hidden behind his back

This is what I do at present, I think it makes more mess personally. I used to leave the oil in the thing indefinitely, the older the oil the best the chip I always thought.

Go on cringe I know you want to.

                  • Well the rain would have made the chips spit of course.....

OK you need plan B :-

turn up at the store with your chips and check if the fryer is big enough.

Yep me too, same sort of principle as frying the eggs in the fat after the bacon

                        • I think that chip portion sizes are too modest. So if a fryer said it was big enough for 4, I'd think it was enough for 2. Am I the only greedy chipeater in the house?

I'm afraid to say I don't use a fryer anymore, only can have 'oven chips', not the same tho!
