    • Right - what have you lot been up to whilst I've been baking?

The cookies are cooling on the rack, so you'll have to wait for a little while.

Now I'm nipping up the road for some milk - don't go getting greedy whilst I'm out, will you?

        • Cookies is an American term for biscuits, but as usual we have taken it on board. I read somewhere that American English has 26,000 differences to British English. Candy/sweets, muffler/exhaust, Fanny/bum, bum/tramp etc The list is endless, well 26000 long anyway.

One thing that really distinguishes biscuits from cookies, however, is that biscuits tend to be fully baked and therefore are either crisp or sandy (sablé), whereas Americans love their cookies half-baked so that the edges are crispy and the middle chewy

                              • Yup a biscuit is baked twice and goes soft when stale, a cookie is baked once and goes hard when stale.....
