Nope - never done it I'm so afraid of chillies that I'm dreading the time when they're ripe and I have to do something with them
Bet you're wondering why on earth I'm growing them...............so am I

I did the itchy eye bit t'other day .....I would wear gloves to chop them but I've got small hands and they never fit properly so i'm always worried I'll add a bit of glove to the chillies

Last week I made some Chilli Jelly with Trinidad Moruga Scorpions and the only time I touched the chillies was to wash the outsides but I did it without gloves and I squeezed some water out of one and nearly pepper sprayed myself but my hands were burning for 48hrs. I'm just glad I didn't rub or scratch anything that time but I have rubbed my eyes and gone to the loo several times after chopping chillies and never learned a bloody thing.

Once I even ground down some dry chillies in a coffee grinder and when it was empty blew in it to clear it out. Chilli dust in my eyes, up my nose, all over my face. That was fun.

                    Ouch.

Since I've been growing Chillis, my OH has gone from disliking them to liking them a bit too much. She regularly cooks a Chilli/Basil pasta dish and when she does you need a gas mask and protective suit in the kitchen.

I don't know what she does, but it gets in the air and stings your eyes and burns your throat.

Given the above it tastes surprisingly nice, but it's bl#~dy hot.
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Sounds like they should come with a health warning.............

I've only had one episode with Scotch Bonnets and an itchy eye...

Now I wear latex gloves to prep them - I do on average 2 batches of chilli jelly a week, so get through a fair few gloves, but it's better than having chilli-burn-eyes!!!

The gloves always hang off the ends of my fingers ....

Horseradish should come with a warning too.....I grate it in the processor which is fine till you take the lid off

Years ago one of my commis chefs was chopping chilies and a seed flicked up off the knife and went into his eye!!UNDER THE EYE-LID!!!! Oh the screaming! I had to hold his eye open under the tap to wash it out, then took him -still squealing - to A+E where they had to put a liquid anesthetic into his eye. Fortunately he didn't do any damage, but I ALWAYS put my reading glasses on when I chop chilies - and wear latex gloves.
