Fireworks? Already?

Why are they being sold already? The dog is going crazy! Some pets run and hide, but ours likes to challenge every bang with an equally loud bark! I've just jumped out of my skin! (Because of the dog!) I don't see the appeal in letting them off in the pouring rain! Just shut up, pack up your silly fireworks and go and watch tv, but you won't will you? You'll keep setting them off, in bursts all night long. If it carries on I'm letting him out! Has anyone else got them going off already?

Quiet here but we usually get a month of them when they start. Our old cat was never bothered by them but now we have young ones I'm wondering how they will react. I know dogs can be really upset by them.
The worst ones are the ones when you've just turned out the light, closed your eyes and ready to drift off when they start. Hope yours stop soon. I thought there was rules about when they can be let off.

They've probably been going off this weekend because it's Eid today/tomorrow. We had a few go off round near us last night

I thought there was something about not setting them off after 11pm, except around the 5th. As you say very difficult to work out who has set them off.

A lot of people have this idea around time constraints which is a myth with any noise nuisance. A noise can be classed as a nuisance at any time of the day but with fireworks it's different.
Few firework events last long enough for a noise patrol team to attend before they are over, and also as they are used for many cultural or religious ceremonies it is difficult in that respect to class it as a nuisance.
A nuisance in law must be a continuous state of affairs, fireworks are not ongoing so cannot be classed as a nuisance in law.

According to Gov.uk there are time constraints on letting off fireworks - generally prohibited between 11pm and 7 am https://www.gov.uk/fireworks-the-law
Its not that its a "noise nuisance" its illegal to do so. Whether the culprits can be caught or not is another matter entirely.

You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am. The exceptions are:

Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
New Year�s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

Hey ho, Eid-al-Adha was last weekend, Diwali is a week on Thursday, then we have dear old Guy Fawkes, so it's pretty much non-stop till 5th November. Then they'll be saved up for Christmas and New Year blow-outs, then not long until Chinese New Year, and the wheel of life moves on.
