  • Rotovator Camon C8 clutch problem "BALL DENTENT"

    hello

I have a camon c8 rotovator, and I Jet washed it, and now the Clutch wont engage, I pull the clutch lever in and I can hear the pitch change in the engine so I know its connected .

looking at the online manual, it mentions greasing the "BALL DENTENT" and quadrant.
I have no idea that the Ball Dentent is, can anyone help please?

    thanks

If you search G**gle for 'Tracmaster Camon C8' you can download the Operating Manual on PDF - that may help.

Used to use them in a previous life - fantastic bit of kit you have there. Hope you get it sorted.

A ball detent is simple but hard to explain, imagine a shaft that moves through a tube and you want it to stay in a certain position. they machine a groove or dent in the shaft and in the tube a side tube contains a ball bearing being pushed down by a spring. when the shaft groove slides along and meets the ball bearing the ball engages with the groove and holds the shaft in place. Pressure on the lever that moves the shaft will force the ball up against the spring pressure enabling the shaft to move again.
Usualy the detent spring can be accesed by a small plate which when removed lets you take out the spring and ball. These do get gummed up with dirt sometimes. Hope that helps.
