  • Behind the Sofa.......

.......What did you watch on tv that made you hide?

Dr Who, Stingray (oh, those evil Mysterons!) and The Tomorrow People. Oh, and Blake's Seven. Scary, scary, stuff!

Thought this was going to be about something you found behind the sofa!
Dr Who did it for me and my sister. Also children's BBC tv show we called "Stones with Eyes". Years later found out it was an adaptation of the Catherine Storr book called "Marianne Dreams"

I have a paper trimmer behind my sofa by the way!

Definitely watched Dr Who from behind the sofa, I still leave the room and go and put the kettle on if something's really scary!

Dr Who did it for me too, in particular daleks and cybermen. Some of The Avengers episodes too when I was a bit older. Actually a lot of Avengers episodes.

Mine was the Daleks watched on black and white TV they weren't nearly as scary in colour, or maybe it was because I was older by then.

Ooh no, I agree, Bren, they were much scarier in B&W

We only watched TV on a Sunday evening once a fortnight at my Aunts, because we didn't have one for years - so it was scary programmes from Sunday night TV
For me - Quatermass and the Pit - all those bodies floating around in a big tank - and all in black and white so you just had to guess what colour the soup was.
My brother was scared of the theme music to the Killing Stones Elias & His Zig Zag Jive Flutes - Tom Hark & Ry-Ry - YouTube. He'd run out the room when it started
Now, I find most TV is scary enough that I don't bother to watch it

                      Dr Who for me too!
Interestingly- we've just watched the first half of the original Dr Who's 'Angels' on French TV...eeeek!!!...it's still stressful to watch!

I don't 'do' stressful TV/ films any more if I can help it ,so watching Dr Who tonight was really quite disturbing for me.

I wasn't 'allowed' to watch Quatermass and the Pit, .............'deprived,' from Kent....

That was about the scariest book I ever read as a child! Mum was the branch librarian our local small library outpost, so we spent a lot of school holidays playing in the field at the back, and treating the 10,000 books as our personal bookcase.

Alan Garner? Again it was the book for me - I remember tracing the motif in a notebook!

I bought a copy not so long ago to read. Wasn't quite so scary now!
