The main thing I'd be concerned about with some of the larger dog flaps is security - remember when I was a kid that our next door neighbours had one that we used to love to climb through for a laugh (it was the 70s, that's what kids did before computers
). We have always had cat flaps though so that our cats can get in and out during the day. Both of them come in at tea time (or often well before) and are then in the house (with access to a litter tray) until about 7ish the following morning.
