Trick or treating?

Mikey, I have risen to your challenge. I have carved my very first pumpkin, and given the dog a costume-of-sorts, and stocked up on penny chews





I bet nobody knocks this year, but I'll be sitting in the back garden burning holly on the chiminea. I may even wear a black cape & cackle (well, cough) a bit while I'm doing it

Stay strong and get that pumpkin out in the morning, as long as it doesn't rain I'm sure you'll have a top night.

OH saw one of our neighbours a long since retired allotmenteer this morning, he's 93 and did a little jig at the prospect of having visiting ghouls knock on his door.

If you want to drop round our way my daughter has plenty of goody bags made up - last year was quiet because of the weather but the year before she had 40 kids at the door so is well prepared.

Experienced a real fun 'Trick n Treating' earlier, lots and lots of children called at my sons house, all great fun, all very polite, not grabbing handfuls, all had gone to great lengths to dress up. Lots of houses really decorated, lots and lots of pumpkins lit.

Grandson went out as Skeleton , with his dad 'Hannibal L, and grandad went as Frankenstein!

Was fun.

Am in Yorkshire at the moment, maybe they are more 'into it' up here.

I had 4 groups of trick or treaters knock on the door this evening - all of them very polite and respectful. The last group was two lads dressed in cloaks and Munch scream masks - first words out of their mouths were 'ooh I like your dog!!' - of course they got extra treats!!

We had quite a few, seemed to be more older ones too. Briliant costumes and all the kids were lovely and polite. Our friends' kids popped round too as there's no kids on their road and as they don't like to bother em, they just drive round to a few of their friends and parents' house - bless them. Then the milkman popped round so he got a few goodies thrown at him too. Then we scoffed what was left (well not all of it).

Well they had a fab time, one of my neighbours little girls joined us age 5, and the 4 witches had a great time, even though it was tipping down.

Lots of neighbours answered and were fab with them, only down side was clearing up sick at 12.30am as DD had eaten too much and spent too much time jigging up and down. She never learns.

We don't live near any kids so I've never had a trick or treater but my Mum loves it as much as the kids!! She carves pumpkins and leaves them up the garden path, hangs scary stuff in the window and spends most of the day filling sweetie bags. 60 this year! It really brightens up her week - and she talks about it for a month

I think that went well - I have about six spare candy bags out of seventy.

All of the children really looked great - lots of parents put in lots of time and effort. The best were three young ladies who dressed as 1940s style pussycats - victory rolls etc in the hair, scarlet lipstick - and they sang a little halloween song they wrote themselves, very Beverly Sisters, and they were brilliant!

And the littlies were so cute! I even got a hug and a 'fank chu' from one wee man.

No callers here only the milk man who wanted paying in money not sweeties then later on daughter called with youngest grandson they where doing the rounds trick or treating at relatives houses.

I wish I could do that, but I'd be looking at around a 150 mile trip just to visit 2 sets of grandparents.
